Bringing a Flower to Bucharest

When I boarded my flight to Bucharest, Romania, my mind was filled with excitement and uncertainty. I was finally going to meet Gabriel, the founder of InfiniteOne and one of the biggest supporters of Lightbath. Gabriel is a true biohacking enthusiast, always ahead of industry trends and deeply committed to bringing cutting-edge wellness technology to Romania, despite facing skepticism and resistance. While I knew we had spent hours texting, calling, and discussing ideas, meeting in person felt like a different kind of adventure.
However, I wasn’t just carrying my travel bags—I was also carrying prejudices and misconceptions. My knowledge of Romania was shaped by outdated stereotypes of poverty and crime, and I couldn’t shake the nervousness that something might go wrong. As soon as I landed, these assumptions were put to the test.
A City That Defied Expectations
Stepping into Bucharest, I was immediately struck by contrasts. The streets were remarkably clean, with little to no litter, yet the architecture had a raw and post-apocalyptic charm. Many of the buildings, remnants of the communist era, were worn down and patched together over time, with makeshift balconies and personal modifications adding to their character. At the same time, parks and green spaces flourished, with early spring blossoms creating a striking contrast against the aged buildings.
Gabriel picked me up in his old Dacia, an iconic Romanian car, missing its exhaust but filled with enthusiasm. He took me on a whirlwind tour of the city, navigating the chaotic traffic with ease. From historical landmarks to hidden cafes, I began to see Bucharest beyond the clichés—a city full of vibrance, resilience, and an evolving culture that blends tradition with modernity.
The Challenge of Bringing Lightbath to Romania
Introducing Lightbath to a new audience was a thrilling but uncertain challenge. Romania, like many places, is slow to adopt new wellness technologies, and Gabriel had already faced skepticism in his mission to bring biohacking tools to the local market. Despite these challenges, we were determined to make an impact.
We organized a Lightbath experience in a yoga studio, expecting around twenty participants. However, just days before the event, political protests erupted in the city, causing multiple event cancellations, including ours. By the time the evening arrived, only two people showed up, with a few more joining later after some convincing. It was an unexpected setback, but it also gave us the chance to create a more intimate and meaningful experience.
The people who did attend had an incredible reaction. They described the Lightbath session as deeply relaxing and mind-expanding, proving that even a small event can leave a powerful impact. It was a reminder that every movement starts with a few people who are open-minded enough to try something new.
Breaking Barriers and Building Connections
Beyond the event, my biggest takeaway from this trip was how it challenged my own biases. Romania is not the country I had imagined—it is a place filled with warm, kind-hearted people, an evolving wellness community, and a growing curiosity for innovative approaches to health. Gabriel’s passion for pushing the boundaries of wellness in his home country is nothing short of inspiring. He is not just selling biohacking products; he is building a movement to introduce brainwave entrainment, light therapy, and neurotechnology to those who might benefit from it the most.
Reflecting on my time in Bucharest, I realize how easy it is to carry unconscious assumptions about places we have never been. This trip was about more than just bringing Lightbath to a new city—it was about stepping outside of my comfort zone, discovering the true spirit of Romania, and meeting an incredible friend in real life for the first time.
I left humbled and inspired, eager to see how biohacking and wellness innovation will continue to grow in Romania. And if there is one thing I learned, it’s that real change starts with one passionate person, one small event, and one open mind at a time.
